Structural steel erection on an Indian project starts with the erection method statement — a document that describes the crane selection and positioning, the erection sequence, the temporary stability provisions during erection, the lifting arrangement for each element, the safety management provisions, and the inspection hold points. Sun Corporation prepares an erection method statement for every structural steel project and submits it for client or structural engineer review before mobilisation. The method statement is not a compliance exercise — it is the planning document that the site supervisor and erection crew work from.
Plan the erection sequence from approved drawings and a project-specific method statement, including temporary stability, bracing, lifting arrangements and inspection hold points. The engineer responsible for erection planning must determine the stable sequence and any temporary supports; a complete bay or temporary propping is not a universal solution for every frame or truss.
Survey foundations, anchor-bolt positions, base plate levels and column alignment against the approved drawings and specified tolerances. Foundation anchor bolts and structural HSFG connections have different functions and installation requirements; do not apply an HSFG torque rule to every column base.
