My Steel Fabricators

Solar and Substation Steel Structure Fabrication

Sun Corporation fabricates steel support structures for substations, switchyards and solar or battery storage sites, from our workshop in Hyderabad. We build to approved drawings and BOQs: gantries, equipment support stands, and frames for inverters and battery containers.

We fabricate the steel that carries the electrical equipment. Transformers, switchgear, modules and trackers are supplied by others, and so is the electrical design. Proprietary solar mounting and tracker systems are a separate product and need their own review.

Substation gantries and equipment supports

Typical items in a substation steel package:

  • Gantry columns, beams and bracing in sections shown on the approved drawings
  • Equipment support stands for CTs, PTs, isolators, lightning arresters and similar items
  • Cable tray supports, cable trench cover supports and bus support structures where drawn
  • Anchor bolt templates and base plate sets for civil handover, when included in the BOQ

Please send the structure schedule, member lists and the assembly drawings. For long members, tell us the transport and joint arrangement so splice details can be checked before cutting.

Inverter, battery and solar equipment frames

For solar and storage sites we quote fixed steel frames and supports that hold electrical equipment: inverter stands, combiner box supports, battery container or cabinet bases, transformer plinth frames and walkway steel.

This is different from module mounting structures and trackers. If your design uses a proprietary mounting or tracker system, tell us which parts you want fabricated from steel to your drawing and we will review that scope separately.

Galvanising and protective finish

Outdoor electrical steel is usually hot-dip galvanised, sometimes with a paint system over it. Give the coating specification and thickness requirement, and which items are galvanised after fabrication. We offer hot-dip galvanising. Galvanised assemblies require suitable venting and drainage. Maximum assembly dimensions and any staged dipping arrangements are confirmed before fabrication. Touch-up at bolted joints and site welds should be assigned to a party.

Interfaces and phased delivery

Substation and solar sites are built in phases, and steel arrives against civil and electrical readiness. Tell us the delivery sequence by bay, block or array, who is responsible for anchor bolts and foundation levels, and who unloads and erects. We separate fabrication only, supply and delivery, and supply with erection in the BOQ. Our site installation page describes how steel erection is organised.

Information needed for a quotation

  • Approved structural drawings, member schedules and BOQ with revision status
  • Steel grades, welding and inspection requirements
  • Galvanising or paint specification
  • Equipment details and loads for stands and frames
  • Site location, delivery schedule and scope split
  • Tender deadline
