Structural steel pipe fabrication in India uses circular hollow sections (CHS) to IS 4923 as columns, truss members, and structural frames where the aesthetic of the circular section, the equal torsional stiffness in all directions, or the clean swept geometry is required. CHS columns are common in architectural structures, canopy supports, and exposed frames where a visible steel element is required. CHS truss members — in Pratt, Warren, or Vierendeel configurations — are used for pedestrian bridges, stadium canopy structures, and long-span industrial roofs where the clean visual appearance of the welded node is valued.

CHS node connections — where a smaller-diameter pipe welds to a larger main chord pipe — require the branch pipe to be profiled (cut to a saddle shape) to fit the curvature of the main chord, which is done on our plasma cutting machine from the CNC profile generated by the detailing software.

Process pipe fabrication — industrial piping spools

Process pipe fabrication in India covers the fabrication of pipe spools — prefabricated sections of a piping system, complete with all fittings, flanges, and branch connections, that are fabricated in the workshop and installed on site as complete assemblies. IS 3589 governs the manufacture of steel pipes for general purposes; IS 1239 covers light, medium, and heavy gauge welded steel pipes for ordinary applications. For process piping in chemical plants and refineries, ASME B31.3 is the governing code for design and fabrication.
