Metro rail structural steel fabrication in India encompasses several distinct structure types, each with its own technical requirements and inspection regime. Station canopy structures — the roof over the elevated station platform — are typically long-span steel trusses or space frames that need to provide weather protection to waiting passengers while maintaining sight lines and avoiding visual obstruction of the platform lighting and CCTV systems. Station building frames house the ticket concourse, lifts and escalators, passenger amenities, and control rooms — typically a multi-storey steel frame with standard commercial building design requirements but metro authority-specific fire resistance and security provisions.

Viaduct cross-beam structural steel is the steel that connects the precast concrete viaduct box girder decks laterally, restrains them against seismic forces, and carries the overhead catenary mast foundations. This steel is embedded in or attached to the precast viaduct elements and needs to be coordinated with the precast producer’s erection sequence. Maintenance depot structural steel covers the workshop sheds, overhead crane structures, washing plant frames, and inspection pit covers in the metro depot — a combination of heavy crane bay steel and standard industrial shed fabrication.

All rates exclude erection, which is priced separately at Rs 18,000 to Rs 30,000 per MT depending on height and access conditions.
