Industrial platforms — fabricated steel decks for plant access and maintenance
Industrial platforms are fabricated steel structures that give operators and maintenance crews safe, load-rated access around vessels, valves, conveyors, and packaged equipment. Unlike warehouse mezzanines, plant platforms are designed to specific live loads, escape routes, and corrosion environments defined on the structural drawings. Sun Corporation fabricates platform framing — columns, beams, bracing, stair connections, and kick plates — from IS 2062 steel to IS 800:2007 at our Hyderabad workshop.
Scope
| Item | Typical specification |
|---|---|
| Primary framing | Built-up or rolled beams and columns |
| Decking | Chequered plate, grating (by others or supplied per BOQ) |
| Handrails and toe boards | MS angle/pipe rails to project standard |
| Stair connections | Landings tied to stair towers or ladders per GA |
| Live load | As designed — maintenance, operating, or storage ratings |
| Finish | Paint, galvanising, or fireproofing interface per spec |
Where platforms sit in the plant steel package
Platforms are often issued alongside pipe racks and equipment supports in the same IFC package. We batch fabrication by area or unit to match construction sequence. For full plant-level scope, see process plant structures and equipment support structures.
